Japan's Leading Hub
for Social Innovation and Impact
Japan Impact Institute (JII) is Japan’s leading hub connecting knowledge, capital, and people to drive social impact. We collaborate with global impact leaders, corporations, foundations, and governments to design and incubate systems that catalyze social innovation.
JII is a hybrid organization that bridges thinking and doing, integrating research, co-creation, experimentation, and knowledge dissemination to advance social innovation.
We work with a wide range of partners—including nonprofits, corporations, foundations, and government agencies—to generate, organize, and share knowledge derived from on-the-ground practice. By linking this knowledge to funding mechanisms that span from philanthropy to impact investing, we co-create new systems and collaborative models that catalyze the flow of impact capital.

As a global hub, we share knowledge and models developed in Japan with the world while bringing global insights and experiences back to Japan—cultivating a cross-sector, cross-border ecosystem where people learn, collaborate, and take action together. Through this continuous circulation of knowledge and capital, we foster new ideas, practices, and impact that drive social change forward.
Our Theory of Change
Our Theory of Change envisions the Impact Loop, where knowledge moves capital and capital generates new knowledge. Practice-based insights are structured and shared, sparking emerging intentions that drive capital toward impact. The Impact Loop enables impact capital to expand and social innovation to accelerate.
Our Impact
Impact capital expands and social innovation accelerates.
